The most popular multilingual solution for WordPress. It is a paid plugin that can be bought from https://wpml.org. Exponent has been tested well with WPML and even comes with a Language Selector header module. WPML can also be used translation of localised text strings. To know how the plugin works, kindly refer its documentation here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/. Below you can find some common questions & answers about using the plugin with Exponent theme.
If you are using the Tatsu Header Builder, please use the Module named “Language Selector”. If you are using the default header, please add the language selector by following the Steps in this article.
Tatsu Header & Footer builder use Custom Post Types and its content is stored as post content. So you would have to translate them by creating separate versions ( or duplicate which is easier ) for each language just like how you would do it for Pages or Posts. But before you can use WPML with Tatsu Header & Footers, you would have to enable translations for those post types from the WPML > SETTINGS panel.
Until you create a translation for a particular page / post , WPML would usually fall back to its default language version. So if you haven’t duplicated a page / post to a new language in the backend, when you switch languages in the front end and use the EDIT WITH TATSU option from the Admin Bar, you would still be editing the content of the default language. It will not create a new version for a different language.
Polylang has a free version as well as a pro version. Polylang’s free version is limited in features and does not have duplicate option like WPML. Its pro version is pricey when compared to WPML. If the free version suits your needs, you can download it from the WordPress repository. If you are considering the pro version, then we would recommend using WPML instead. Our language selector module is not integrated with Polylang currently and you would have to use the Plugin’s Shortcode.
